Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is a very small Broward County community with about 6,300 permanent residents, where only about 7% of households have children under the age of 18 living within them. The town covers only about one and a half square miles and is centered on the intersection of Commercial Boulevard and State Road A1A. Lauderdale-By-The-Sea real estate is beautiful, being surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Intracoastal Waterway to the west with Fort Lauderdale to the south and Pompano Beach to the north. It is the home of one of only four piers in the county, Anglin's Pier, which is a popular fishing destination.
Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is known as the "Shore Diving Capital of Florida", with active coral reefs just 100 yards offshore. One of the reefs is the final resting place of the SS Copenhagen that sank in 1900 and has been designated an archaeological preserve.
The real estate in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea is exclusive, since there is very little of it. You can get to just about anywhere on the island by using the convenient Pelican Hopper that services most of the town.
